“From a little spark ⚡️ may burst a flame.”

Welding is an essential component of our everyday lives.

While growing up, I used to believe they made magic with the sparks, now I know we create better things than magic: from construction to space shuttles, Welding is an invaluable skillset around the world.

  • FORCE OF THE ECONOMY

Welding-related industries build farm machinery, ocean vessels, buildings, factories, bridges, vehicles, and pipelines. These essentials generate, store, and distribute food, fuel, and products to a multitude of families and businesses. Everything from computers to coffee pots are welded or manufactured with welded machinery. In Fact: Over 50% of U.S. products require welding.

  • WELDING STARTED IN THE 1800's

This was not the same process that we know today, but the concept of “burning metal together”, goes back to the Egyptians: They had worked with smelting, or heating metal to a molten state. They smelted everything from gold and silver to copper and tin. Heated metals were bonded together by continuous pounding by Blacksmiths with the use of giant hummers. This process was known as forge welding.

  • IMPACT OF WELDING

In the 1950´s after World War 2 ended, nearly 20-million women worked in the welding industry and completely revolutionized the American industry. Technology and welding have shaped transportation: (automobiles, ships, airplanes, trains, aerospace, highways) construction, computers, robotics, deep sea infrastructure, agriculture, shipbuilding, engineering, pipelines, medical equipment, mobile devices, sculptures, and military equipment.

At G & G, we have participated in a variety of different projects in many of these industries.
